Our animals are calling you to come and visit us

TOLFA welcomes visitors to come and see first-hand the work that we do with street and abandoned animals.  As a very busy working hospital, we can only accept visitors at certain times.

Current visiting times are:

  • Monday to Sunday: 10.30am – 12.30pm

These timings also apply if you are a care person or an owner of an animal that has been admitted to our hospital for treatment and you want to visit them.

Please help our work to run smoothly by keeping to these visiting times only.  Remember, we have 600 + animals that we need to clean, feed and provide veterinary treatment for, every single day.

If you are absolutely unable to visit during these times because of a tight schedule, please email us on: adminindia@tolfa.in and find out whether it is possible to come at an alternative time.  We cannot promise that we will be able to accommodate you, but we will try our best.

Commonly asked questions about visiting us

  • How far is TOLFA from Ajmer and Pushkar?

TOLFA is about 8-9 kms from both Ajmer and Pushkar in opposite directions.  From Ajmer, you will need to take the Foy Sagar Rd and from Pushkar the Kharekhari village Rd, past Savitri temple.  Please check out our ‘Location page’ to get exact directions.

  • How long will the tour take?

The tour will take on average about 40 minutes to 1 hour.

  • Do I need to bring anything with me to take a tour?

We recommend that you bring your own water bottle with you and it is imperative during the hot season.  It is also good to carry some hand sanitiser with you.

In monsoon weather the ground can become very waterlogged and so suitable footwear is a must.  If you are wishing to visit in the monsoon, please contact us first as sometimes our pathways become flooded or very slippery and so we will let you know whether it is possible at that time to visit or not.

  • Does it cost anything to take a tour? Can I leave a donation?

No it doesn’t cost anything to take a tour but donations are very gratefully received.  TOLFA’s work runs on a donation basis and so everything helps.  Donations can be given in cash or cheque on the day or online through this website.

  • Are there any safety precautions that we need to know about?

When you first arrive at our TOLFA Animal Hospital, please go to our dispensary so that a experienced member of staff can accompany you.  You must always stay with the member of TOLFA staff that is giving the tour and not just wander off on your own.  All children must be kept with an adult at all times and smaller children should be carried by their parent or guardian.

Please remember that not every animal likes to be touched or stroked and so it is important to read their body language.  Your TOLFA guide will be able to advise you on which animals like to be fussed.

We are a working hospital and therefore some areas are restricted access to members of the public.

  • Do you accept volunteers?

Currently TOLFA is not taking volunteers.
