In July 2013; after a lot of encouragement from the local community; we opened our Kharekhari dispensary. Having witnessed the many successes that TOLFA had had with treatments given to the street animals, a lot of people wished for the same good quality veterinary treatment for their much loved pet and owned animals.
In March 2021, following a very kind donation, we were able to open a second dispensary in Ajmer city.

Please note that treatment for pet (pedigree) dogs and cats as well as owned animals (high yielding cows, buffaloes, horses, camels) are performed on a donation basis only.
Your donation will not only cover the costs involved in treating your animal but any excess will go to help fund our free charitable work with street animals. By helping your animal you are also helping lots of other animals that live in less fortunate circumstances.
We are so happy when people adopt a street dog or cat as their pet, that in gratitude, we will provide free treatment for them. We will gratefully receive any donation though if you are in appreciation of our work.
Sometimes a longer course of treatment is required for more serious illnesses or injuries. For a donation, it is possible to admit your pet into one of our owner dog kennels or cattery where they will receive the veterinary care that they need. This is also possible for owned cows and buffaloes.
You will need to sign a risk note for admission. To enquire about the progress of your animal’s condition, you can call our dispensary on 9116 622585.
Rabies vaccination
First vaccination at 12 weeks (3 months), followed by yearly booster vaccinations. (A rabies vaccination at an earlier age can be given but it should be repeated again at 3 months of age).
6:1 vaccination (For Distemper, Canine Infectious Hepatitis (CAV 1 & 2), Leptospirosis Icterohaemorrhagiae & canicola and Parvo virus)
First vaccination at 8-9 weeks with second vaccination at 12 weeks, followed by yearly booster vaccinations.
Yes TOLFA does perform ABC (Animal Birth Control) on owned animals as well and we recommend it for your pets overall health. The operation is performed on a donation basis.
The benefits of sterilization are no unwanted pregnancies or complications that can occur during pregnancy and birth which can result in caesarians. No coming ‘on heat’ and the inconvenience that it causes. A reduced risk of mammary and uterine tumours in females and testicular tumours in males as well as no risk of trans venereal tumours which are a sexually transmitted tumour. No pyometra for females in later life that if not diagnosed early, can be life threatening.
No we do not. We do not believe in breeding animals for the purpose of making money. There are so many beautiful, loyal and intelligent ‘desi’ puppies that are in need of a loving home that our priorities will always be to support them and not bringing more pedigree animals into the world.
No you cannot. We already house more than 150 animals that have a permanent disability as well as the 500 plus animals that are under medical treatment and so therefore we do not have the space to accommodate your unwanted pet.
As the owner of a pedigree dog or cat, if you are no longer able to care for them, it is your responsibility to find a new loving home for them. Pets are not commodities to be disposed of when it is no longer convenient to keep them. When you take on a pet it is for life but if you are no longer able to provide that lifelong care, then your time and efforts are required to find a person who can.
It is possible to admit your cow or buffalo for a longer course of treatment into our large animal shade but you will be required to give a donation for this facility. You will be explained everything by a TOLFA Dr and you will be required to sign a ‘risk note’ before admission.
When you have been advised that your cow or buffalo is ready for release you will need to pick them up promptly and failure to do so, will mean that we may rehome them to another owner.
Unfortunately we do not have the space at our TOLFA Animal Hospital to be able to offer burial facilities for your pets.
