You can help us to reduce our monthly expenditure by giving a donation in kind. Especially if you live locally, it is an easy way to fulfill your charitable giving. All you need to do is:
Unfortunately unless there are exceptional circumstances, we are not able to pick up donations in kind as this takes our very busy rescue vehicles away from their task in hand and that is rescuing animals.
Some items can be ordered online and so even if you don’t live locally, you can still give a donation in kind. If you do send us something online, please message us on our contact form so we know it is on its way and we can thank you for your gift. Below is a list of items that we use on a daily basis.
Cow feed is one of our biggest daily feed expenses. We have a lot of cows and they eat a lot of food. Sponsoring a whole truck of kutti (usually 3900 – 4000kgs) is a significant financial undertaking but it is a huge help to us. It is a great thing to sponsor if you can get a group of people together. It is not only whole trucks of kutti that help though – also sacks of kutti or dalia also help to take off the financial pressure and keep those hungry cows happy.
On average we spend nearly 2 lakhs on medicines per month to be able to treat the thousands of animals that are in need of our medical help. You can help reduce our monthly medicine bills by giving a donation of life saving medicines. Please get in touch through our contact form and we will send you a list of our current medicine and consumable needs all of which are available at any veterinary pharmacy.
We feed commercial pet food to both our cats and also to our dogs and puppies that are nutritionally challenged that just need that extra bit of help. Every month we use on average 12-15 bags of commercial dog food (20kg bags) and 12 bags of commercial cat food (7 kg bags). This is a great feed item to donate if you do not live locally as you can order online through our Amazon Wishlist and it will be delivered to our door.
Green grass never goes to waste. There are always cows, bulls, calves, camels, horses and donkeys ready to eat it up. It is so easy to arrange a tempo of grass to be delivered to our TOLFA Animal Hospital and if you are able to, there is nothing more heartwarming than seeing all the large animals tucking into that lush green grass. Equally though, it is an easy thing to arrange if you are not able to make it to TOLFA yourself to give a donation in kind as it can be arranged from the city.
During puppy and kitten season we unfortunately have to admit lots of orphans that have lost their mums due to illness or injury. So many of them have yet to be weaned and so need to be bottle fed with specialist replacement milk to be able to thrive. Unfortunately cow’s milk and other milks cause too much digestive upset and specialiset puppy or kitten milk really are the most ideal replacement. This can be ordered online through our Amazon Wishlist.
Flour is the staple ingredient of the rotis that we cook fresh twice a day that makes up part of the diet that we feed to all of our dogs. Street dogs love a good roti and everyday we use on average 60kgs of flour to make the dough, that makes hundreds of rotis every morning and afternoon. That is nearly 22000 kgs of flour every year!
Rice and daal form the base of all the different food combinations that we give to our admitted and sheltered dogs which are tailored to suit their individual needs. Any kind of rice, whether it be either full grain or kinki is useful to us. Split moong daal is the best kind of daal for us to use as it is both very nutritious and also the dogs really like it. For our equines though, channa daal is a favourite.
